Brexit Update on EU Nationals Settlement Status

As a draft Brexit proposal was announced last Wednesday (14 November 2018), this is the latest information from the Home Office on the status of EU citizens in the UK and how you are affected.

Here is the text of the circular:

If you’re a European Union (EU) citizen, you and your family will be able to apply to get either settled or pre-settled status. This will mean you can continue living in the UK after 31 December 2020.

You will not need to apply if:

Rights for citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland are still being negotiated.

When you can apply

The EU Settlement Scheme will open fully by 30 March 2019.

The deadline for applying will be 30 June 2021. You may be able to apply after this date if you’re joining a family member with settled or pre-settled status in the UK.

Fees

The fee to apply will be:

£65 if you’re 16 or over
£32.50 if you’re under 16
