Valerie Shaul specialises in Residential Property Law and Landlord and Tenant Actions.
Valerie was head of property litigation at a West End law firm before leaving to join Taylor Hampton. With over 30 years of experience in she is an expert in most types of residential landlord and tenant relationships, including statutory Rent Act tenancies, assured short-hold tenancies, company lettings and long leases granted on leasehold properties.
Valerie has over the years acted for many professional landlords, estate agents, letting agencies, managing agents and residents’ associations advising on leasehold disputes over service charges and their recovery, breaches of covenant and other disputes.
She is able to advise on tenancy agreements, from the drafting of the agreement, the enforcement of the terms and ensuring the subsequent vacating of the property at the end of the term, including possession proceedings.
The majority of Valerie’s clients have been landlords and this has given her considerable experience to advise and assist tenants when disputes with their landlord arises. Valerie also deals with individual lease extensions and enfranchisement work where a group of tenants wish to purchase the freehold of their building. She has considerable knowledge of the workings of the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal where valuations and disputes (including service charge disputes) may be referred.
Valerie has always enjoyed a good and close working relationship with her clients and is still working with people introduced to her at the beginning of her career. She also has extensive experience of general litigation, including debt recovery.
