Visa Applications from some Nationalities may now be restricted
In an update today from the BBC it appears that some Nationalities may have restrictions placed on their visa applications:
The UK government may tighten visa rules for nationalities seen as more likely to overstay or claim asylum. The BBC, citing The Times, reports that this could affect applicants from countries such as Pakistan, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka.
The Home Office is concerned about people entering the UK on legal work or study visas who then apply for asylum. Ministers say this trend is undermining the system.
Which Nationalities are affected?
It is unclear which nationalities will be targeted but they will be those that have shown in the past to overstay their visas and to be staying in the country illegally.
When will we learn more?
A Home Office spokesperson said the upcoming Immigration White Paper will outline a full plan to fix what they describe as a “broken immigration system.”
