Trump 2.0 Administration
Donald Trump is to be inaugurated this month as US President and his policies are causing concern to many throughout North America. Taylor Hampton Solicitors has recently seen an increase of enquiries from US clients who wish to move to the UK. They are mainly from Liberal Americans who eschew the Trump 2.0 administration.
The enquiries are primarily from individuals in the Tech. Law and Arts industries. Furthermore, many same-sex couples are concerned about Trump’s conservative views and wondering about their future and freedom. The enquiries Taylor Hampton processes are more based on a political motivation than for economic reasons.
What Immigration Routes are UK Citizens Choosing?
Many wealthy clients who would have previously invested in the UK can no longer do so as the UK Government scrapped the Investor visa. US Citizens wary of the Trump 2.0 administration need to look at other visa options available in the UK. Those clients who are extremely talented can apply for the Global Talent visa. Consequently, this visa allows an individual in the Arts, Digital Technology or Academia sector to stay and remain in the UK.
However, if a client is not in any of these fields, then they need a sponsor in the UK and can remain here on the Skilled Worker visa. Nevertheless, there are certain salary requirements and other criteria that need to be met. Both these visas lead to Indefinite Leave to Remain and ultimately Citizenship.
Spouse/Partner Visa Route for US Immigrants
The Spouse/Partner visa is another option but one has to be married or in a long term relationship with a British Citizen in order to qualify.
Additionally, there are many different visa options available and all have different criteria. Taylor Hampton Solicitors can assist with these applications.
