At Taylor Hampton, we stay updated regarding developments that affect sponsors under the United Kingdom’s immigration system. One critical service is the Home Office’s priority change of circumstances process. Some sponsors rely on this to expedite key actions, often necessary for advancing visa applications. Without it, the standard processing time of 18 weeks can cause delays or even disrupt visa applications.
Old Challenges Persist
Formerly, this service was managed on a strict 9am-to-5pm window, limited to only 60 slots daily. Some sponsors have had to email at exactly 9am and hope to secure a spot. However, even with perfect timing, it was still a lottery. Rejected sponsors had no option other than to try again the next day.
With over 100,000 registered sponsors competing for these slots, the demand outweighed the availability. Many sponsors found the system challenging and ineffective, especially given its fundamental role in visa applications.
New Terms: A Small Step Forward
Newly, the Home Office extended their work hours from 9am-5pm to 7am-to-5pm Monday through Friday and increased slots to 100 per day. While this marks an improvement, the challenge continues. The additional slots are only a small amount of what’s still needed. Sponsors can start earlier now, but still face severe competition for a limited number of slots.
