Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa: Letter of Recommendation

Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa can be granted to individuals who have exceptional talents in the field of arts, digital technology, medicine, engineering, humanities, and science.  Individuals outside Switzerland and European Economic Area (EEA) can make an application for the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa. To apply for this category of visa, an individual needs to meet the endorsement requirements.

Letter of recommendation

To be eligible for the endorsement stage of the Exceptional Talent category, the individual must possess a personal letter of recommendation.  The individual needs to demonstrate to the qualifying bodies (also known as the Designated Competent Bodies) that they have the qualities of a world leader or the qualities of a world-leader-to-be in their respective field.  They must obtain a letter of recommendation from a leading person who knows the individual personally.  The leading person must also be working in the same field as the individual for the letter of recommendation to be valid.
In addition to the obligatory requirements, the referrers should also be world leaders and should be recognised in their establishments and industries.  They must have knowledge about the applicant’s contributions and work in the digital sector.  They are usually senior members such as the CEO or founders in their organisations.

Digital technology sector

Individuals that are involved in the digital technology sector can also apply for a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa.  These individuals must apply through Tech City UK.  They must demonstrate their contribution and work in the digital technology sector.  They must have clear proof of their innovation when working as a founder, director, or employee of the company.  They should also have records which show that they are going above and beyond their profession to ensure the advancement of the digital technology sector.

Experts of Tech City UK will go through these applications to determine whether the individuals have what it takes to be sponsored by them. One of the many documents that these individuals have to submit to the Tech City UK is the letter of recommendation, as we mentioned above.

Contrary to the requirement of other fields, for an individual applying to be endorsed by Tech City UK, their referrers are not required to be working in a UK-based company.  If you want to know more about the format and the content of the letter of recommendation, please do not hesitate to contact our solicitors at Taylor Hampton Solicitors.

The letter should also include information such as how the contribution of the individual makes them a world leader in their respective fields and the relationship between the referrer and the applicant.  If further information on the letter of recommendation, please call us now.

If you have talents in other fields, such as arts, medicine, engineering, humanities, or science, there will be different criteria to satisfy the endorsement stage of the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa.  For further details, please feel free to contact us now.
