On his Twitter account, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also confirmed the scheme’s introduction.  However, applicants await further announcements on this new work visa for the UK – further details will emerge soon.

Nevertheless, there is no need for concern because the Home Office has published a guide.  The guide outlines how to apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa that does make mention of Indian applicants. The Youth Mobility Scheme allows participants to live and work in the UK for up to two years, just like the Young Professionals Scheme.  Effectively, The Young Professionals scheme is a subdivision of the Youth Mobility Visa Scheme.

The following prerequisites must be met in order to apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme:

If any of the following apply to you….

  • a child for whom you are financially liable
  • or a child for whom you have already entered the UK under the plan

… you may not be able to apply for this visa

Can my family be admitted?
